This recommendation applies to indoor capacitor units and indoor capacitor banks complete with accessories which are intended: - for connection to adjustable anCn voltage systems; - to operate in a frequency range from 40 to 24 000 Hz; - for power factor correction, especially for inductive heating; and also for otherwise modifying the characteristics of a circuit, such as voltage and frequency. Note. This recommendation does not apply to capacitors which are directly connected to a distribution network. Such capacitors shall be designated and tested according to IEC Publication 70, Power Capacitors, or EN 60143, Series Capacitors for Power Systems. This recommendation applies to capacitors intended to be used at altitudes not exceeding 1 000 m and within the prescribed temperature range of the cooling-medium. For this purpose, capacitors are classified in temperature categories, each category being characterized by the lowest temperature of the capacitor at which it may be energized, chose from the three values 25 øC, l0 øC, 0øC and the upper limit of the temperature of the cooling-medium, being the value selected from the table (see 1.2).
