Latvian standard (LVS) maintains close ties with colleagues in neighboring countries. The Baltic Standards Forum (BSF) is a cooperation platform created by the national standardization institutions of Latvia (LVS), Estonia (EVS), Lithuania (LST) and Poland (PKN) for the mutual exchange of experience and development of standardization processes. Since the first BSF in 2001, it has become an important annual tradition. This international cooperation ensures a unified representation of interests in the European standardization processes, while promoting the coordination of action lines in solving common tasks and achieving goals.
LVS also implements international cooperation outside the Baltic region, based on cooperation agreements with standardization organizations of partner countries and participating in various projects related to standardization. LVS implements cooperation with the national standardization institutions of Georgia, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Ukraine. Cooperation includes exchange of experience and information, organization of seminars, conferences and trainings and support for maintenance, modernization and development of services of national standardization systems.
The project's purpose is to strengthen the institutional and digital capacity of the Moldovan Standardization Institution to ensure the availability of European and international standards.
The project will result in the creation of an efficient, data-driven and machine translation-supported standards translation workflow that will assist in the implementation of EU regulatory requirements and Moldova's gradual integration into the EU single market.

The project purpose is the development, installation, roll-out, maintenance, plenishing and updating of national platforms to allow accessing and viewing of standardisation deliverables requested by the Commission and other standardisation deliverables directly linked to EU law and other possible documents. The project purpose was to provide support to Uzbekistan's national quality infrastructure institutions in strengthening management capabilities, ensuring the transfer of experience and knowledge in the fields of standardization and metrology, as well as promoting the use of digital technology solutions to improve information availability.
The project was aimed to strengthen and deepen the long-term cooperation between the institutions maintaining the quality infrastructure of the two countries, by formulating new cooperation issues for the involvement of Latvian representatives for the further transfer of the acquired experience and knowledge.
As a result of the project, the adoption of Latvia's experience, raising the qualifications of metrology and standardization experts, improvement of the metrology quality management system and e-management of standardization, as well as the introduction of modern language technology solutions - a machine translation platform - were ensured.

The project purpose was to support the development and capacity building of the Georgian and Moldovan standardization systems by providing publicly and operationally reliable information on requirements, solutions and best practices based on international and European standards in the priority areas identified within the project.
The project addressed the development of support tools for local businesses on standardization and conformity assessment in the EU single market, as well as improvements to existing infrastructure for remote access to information on standards and conformity assessment procedures.
The project activities were based on an in-depth study of the current situation and the development of an action plan in accordance with the national business development priorities and directions.
Accomplished within the project:
- implemented exchange of experience and knowledge;
- organized public seminars on the role of standards and support tools for promoting export capacity of SMEs in EU markets in Chisinau and Tbilisi;
- provided recommendations for the implementation of SME support instruments and the creation and maintenance of a support contact point (help desk);

The project purpose was to continue to improve the activity started within the framework of the development cooperation project last year by expanding the use of neural machine translation infrastructure, as well as to strengthen public administration capacity in providing information by introducing automatic translation solution on state institutions' websites to ensure the fight against infodemic and dissemination of misinformation.
The project provided for the continuation of support to Georgian partner institutions on the development of machine translation memory, providing translation of Georgian standards in the field of tourism, and provide support to the development of Georgia's state language policy, as well as the fight against disinformation.
As a result of the project, an international conference Modern Technologies for Under-resourced Languages, a meeting with representatives of the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and sevral workshops were organized, as well as automatic content translation widgets integrated in the GEOSTM and State Language Department websites.

The project purpose was to support the strengthening of the capacity of the Georgian standardization system to provide publicly and operationally available information on requirements, solutions and best practices based on international and European health care products standards for the production of personal protective equipment, as well as business continuity and sustainability.
One of the project results was translated standards required among Georgian companies into Georgian and their publication in the categories of protective equipment where there is a shortage of reserves and in the production of which local production companies, such as protective masks, medical gowns, gloves, etc., are ready to participate; created a machine translation platform, and an e-learning platform and training program pilot project.

Project working visits were organized, dialogue between industry experts at the level of the Technical Committee for Standardization was facilitated, and practical support was provided for launching Georgia's initiative on the development of technical regulations for hotel certification system.

The project purpose was to support the improvement of the Georgian standardization system in the construction sector by strengthening the coordination of the overall standardization process by providing an exchange of experience and expertise on the adoption of Eurocode standards, accessibility and development perspectives, and promoting stakeholder participation in standardization.
The Latvian experts shared their experience on the implementation of Eurocodes in Latvia, including the development of national annexes, examples of best practices in their maintenance and application, and the promotion of SME participation in harmonizing standards. As a result of the project, the systematic work on the implementation of Eurocodes has begun and national annexes based on the developed and approved work program were restored and maintained in Georgia.

The project purpose was to support the strengthening of administrative, human and technical capacities of Georgian National Agency for Standards and Metrology (GEOSTM) to further implement the requirements of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) through the gradual approximation of the Georgian legislation in line with New Approach Directives and best practices in the field of metrology and standardization and to implement Commission's European standardization policy and the mechanisms of referring to European standards in European policies and legislation. It enabled the use of European standardization as a strategic tool for the application of European policies and legislation in the field of metrology and standardization in Georgia.
This Twinning project aimed also to provide support in further effective and efficient implementation and fulfilment of the objectives set out in the EU-Georgia Association Agreement, including DCFTA, which contains a range of policy measures for liberalizing trade. The action specifically supported provisions of Chapter 3 Technical Barriers to Trade, standardisation, metrology, accreditation and conformity assessment.

The aim of the project was to improve the participation of the smaller and newer countries attending only sporadically or not participating at all in the environmental protection-related strategic discussions of CEN.
The project was aiming at ensuring the participation of the national standardization bodies and, in accordance with the request of the EC to strengthen the efforts to facilitate the participation of the societal and environmental stakeholders in standardization, the environmental stakeholders from the countries currently less active in this field becomes much broader in the “greening” of the standardization.
The specific objective was to increase the status of stakeholder groups and to provide a balance between them and the National Standards Body (NSB) officials and at the same time to encourage them to work closely together. At the end of the project, an efficient and long-term co-operation will develop among the project partners and CEN/SABE.

The project purpose was an exchange of Latvia's experience on stakeholder involvement in standardization processes, dissemination of information on the benefits of European standards for enhancing the competitiveness of SMEs, and the provision of training in a virtual environment.
Within the framework of the project, the LVS shared its experience in standardization promotion and education on standards that could positively influence the implementation of Moldova's reform of the standardization system and promote more active involvement of SMEs in standardization. An essential benefit of the project is the creation of a training platform for standardization education and upmarket or significant standards in the market, as well as the establishment of closer cooperation links between the LVS and ISM for the further exchange of information and cooperation on specific standards in training projects, as well as the promotion of SME-relevant standards.

The project was focused on the elaboration and promotion of open and innovative training programmes, materials and e-tools for teaching and learning how to apply and use internationally recognized standards: ISO/IEC 27000 series standards for information security management systems and ISO 31000 series standards for risk management systems.
The educational materials about the standards were developed by experts from the National Standardization Bodies of the countries involved in the project. These materials were integrated in e-learning courses designed by e-learning experts. The e-courses together with an e-course for training the VET trainers were piloted in the ISTRA Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) developed through the use of cutting-edge ICT-based educational technologies and innovative approach towards delivering theoretical knowledge and practical skills in applying standards in various spheres.
