| Title | This European Standard gives a single set of guidelines on the description of natural and synthetic diamonds and is specifically designed to be understood by the consumer. The Standard includes a set of permitted descriptors for diamonds also includes a series of definitions which aim to provide further clarity for traders. The Standard will cover the nomenclature to be used by those involved in the buying and selling of diamonds, treated diamonds and synthetic diamonds. In particular, it will outline how to describe synthetic diamonds in a clear and accurate manner to provide clarity to the consumer and maintain consumer confidence in the diamond industry as a whole. |
