Project No.-
TitleThis document specifies the procedures for determining the flow time using an invert cone. This test does not apply to self-compacting concretes or concretes with insufficient fluidity. This test is not suitable when the maximum size of the coarse aggregate (Dmax) exceeds 22,4 mm. It can be carried out in the laboratory or on site. The invert cone flow time test is used to evaluate the apparent viscosity of concrete. Fresh concrete is placed in the invert cone (larger diameter upwards) resting on a flat and horizontal surface. When the cone is withdrawn upwards at a steady speed, the time of concrete flow through the cone is measured and recorded as the test result.
