The standard defines the materials, the dimensions, the tolerances, the tests, the surface characteristics and the data traceability (marking on the tubes) of welded stainless steel tubes for structural and/or decorative applications. It is applicable both to tubes with round section (round tubes) and to square and rectangular tubes. The tubes described in the present norm can be manufactured with all the present modern continuous process welding technologies like TIG, Laser, HFIW (High Frequency Induction Welding) unless the tubes requirements are according to the EN 10296-2 and the present norm. The tubes produced according to this norm do not need any heat treatment
