This part of EN 1187 specifies a method to determine the resistance of roofs to external fire exposure. The method gives an indication of the roof's behaviour when exposed to one type of burning brand combined with wind and supplementary heat radiation simulating the effects of a nearby fire, with respect to the firespread across the external surface of the roof, the fire spread within the roof,the fire penetration and the production of flaming droplets or debris falling from the underside of the roof or from the exposed surface.
