Project No.-
TitleThis document provides a framework and methodologies for assessing the operational energy performance of buildings. It aims to standardize the process of calculating and reporting the Operational Rating of buildings, which reflects energy efficiency during the actual operating conditions. The standard covers a comprehensive framework for operational energy assessment, including objectives of assessment, data collection strategies, data analysis and validation, calculation procedures, and reporting requirements. Specifically, this document provides guidance on the types of data required and their respective sources, encompassing building information, occupancy patterns, energy use data, weather data, and Indoor Environmental Quality Data. It elaborates on the measurement and monitoring techniques to be employed, including the quality assurance and maintenance of monitoring equipment. Furthermore, the standard outlines various data analysis techniques, including validation, uncertainty analysis, and sensitivity analysis. It defines calculation models, algorithms, Energy Performance Indicators (EnPIs), and correction factors based on occupancy, climate conditions, and levels of service. The standard also describes the structure of the assessment report and key findings and recommendations to be included. This standard is intended for use by building owners, facility managers, energy auditors, and other stakeholders involved in the energy performance assessment of buildings. It is applicable to all types of buildings, including residential, commercial, and industrial. Annexes provide additional information on benchmark buildings and calculation tools. This document includes, as an informative annex, a worked example for the procedure outlined in the EPB Operational Rating.
