It does not replace any requirements of both said standards / documents. It is intended as an add-on to the above standards.
This document specifies the requirements for equipping of high and enhanced visibility clothing with active lighting visually signalling the presence of its wearer. High and enhanced visibility clothing with active lighting is intended to maintain or provide conspicuity in twilight and dark conditions in the absence of a directional external light source.
NOTE This is the case for example in airfield, construction sites, sports hunting, oil and gas sites, port/harbour, parking lots, waste disposal and recycling plants, textile rental service providers logistics, mining, tunnel construction, warehouses / logistics, construction, traffic and road construction, police, ambulance ...This document shall be applied to products with an operating voltage lower than 50 V AC or 75 V DC, respectively.
NOTE Products with operating voltages above this range may be in the scope of 2014/35/EU. This is the case for example for electroluminescence.
This document does not apply to garments utilizing chemiluminescence and/or phosphorescence as active light sources.
