This document specifies the requirements for medium tolerance sling chains of grade 10G for the use primarily in chain slings,
assuming a nominal stress of 1 000 N/mm2 related to the cross-sectional area of both legs for the respective nominal diameter at the
specified minimum breaking force.
The range for the nominal diameter extends from 4 to 32 mm.
Sling chains according to this document are electrically welded, round steel short link chains with a nominal pitch pn = 3 × dn, heat
treated and tested. Permissible welding processes are flash welding, resistance butt welding and friction welding.
These sling chains are designed for use in a temperature range from -30 °C to +200 °C.
For guidance on temperatures below -30 °C the manufacturer should be consulted.
The sling chains are generally surface painted by the manufacturer for easy identification and corrosion protection. At the customer's
request, the surface condition is non-coated. Both characterise the finished condition.
