The Data Elements themselves may or may not reside on the card. This will depend upon the nature of the card used and the application(s) environment in which the card is to be used. The card types considered in the derivation of this part of EN 1545 include: -magnetic stripe cards; -dedicated use IC cards; -multi-purpose use IC cards; -optical cards.
