- Scope of application; types of structures (above-ground and buried penstocks, encased pressure conduits) and pressure / diameter combinations covered.
- Reliability classification of penstocks and corresponding design requirements (partial factors, design combination of actions)

- Specific Actions on Penstocks
- Structural Analysis; beam modelling, advanced modelling
- ULS Design: i. Plastic Collapse; ii. Cyclic Plasticity; iii. Buckling / Stability / Excessive Ovalisation (for buried pipes); iv.Fatigue
