Part 2 of this International Standard defines requirements for ICT that is to be deployed in supporting or providing interoperation between enterprises. Part 1 of this standard identified 4 levels of concern and 3 kinds of barriers that are significant for enterprise interoperability. This part 2 elaborates those barriers in further detail and defines, for each of the three approaches also identified in Part 1, requirements for ICT to remove these barriers.
NOTE The emphasis of this International Standard is on information exchange and its content. It does not specify mechanism of transfer for information or other entities. It does not specify the manner in which interoperability solutions are implemented. The work will take account of existing standards-based solutions to the barriers that have been identified in Part 1.
This International Standard focuses on, but is not restricted to, enterprise (manufacturing or service) interoperability. It is intended for use by people who are concerned with developing and deploying solutions based on ICT for manufacturing enterprise process interoperability. It could be used to specify the capabilities that businesses might offer as services to support or provide enterprise interoperability
