This clause of Part 1 is applicable except as follows: 1.1 Replacement: This standard applies to whirlpool baths for indoor use. It also applies to separate equipment for circulating air or water to baths for household and similar purposes. This standard applies to appliances which are supplied as a unit. NOTES 1. Appliances not intended for normal household use, but which nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public, such as appliances designed for use in hotels, fitness centres and similar places are within the scope of this standard. 2. It does not take into account the special hazards which exist in nurseries and other places where there are young children or aged or infirm persons without supervision; in such cases, additional requirements may be necessary. 3. This standard does not apply to, - equipment for water circulation in swimming and motion exercise pools; - cleaning appliances for swimming pools; - equipment installed in places such as public baths and fitness centres and which is used under the control of an attendant; - appliances intended for medical purposes. 4. For appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft, additional requirements may be necessary. 5. For appliances intended to be used in tropical countries, special requirements may be necessary. 6. Attention is drawn to the fact that in many countries additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities, the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour and the national authorities responsible for the water supply.
