This document defines standardized procedures, test conditions, and calculation methods to evaluate the performance and durability of flow battery energy systems (FBES) used in stationary applications. It covers the measurement of key parameters such as rated capacity, energy round-trip efficiency, and power output, as well as the assessment of long-term reliability under representative operational conditions. The scope extends to both full-scale flow battery systems and, if needed, representative test objects that accurately replicate relevant performance characteristics. By specifying requirements for measuring instruments, data recording, and system preconditioning, this document enables consistent and comparable test results across different flow battery technologies.
