This standard specifies requirements relevant to environment (for example air, soil and water) and related issues for sustainably produced biomass for energy applications.
This standard is applicable to direct conformity assessment and conformity assessment of other certification systems. To that end this standard:
(i) establishes "principles, criteria, indicators, verifiers and associated guidance to assess the compliance of sustainable biomass production and processing;
(ii) establishes guidelines for assessing the equivalence of the requirements of certification systems with regard to environment and related aspects.
This standard is applicable to, at least but not limited to, biomass from forestry and agriculture.
