This document specifies the environmental requirements for the circular design of fishing gear and aquaculture equipment containing plastic. It will establish sustainability principles that minimize the negative impact of fishing gear and aquaculture equipment on the environment.
This document will apply, amongst others, to the materials used in fishing gear and aquaculture equipment and propose replacement materials for those currently considered potentially harmful to the environment and to increase the opportunity for applying circular strategies for these plastic-based materials.
