It applies to cylinders actuated by an electrical motor to operate locks normally used in buildings.
It establishes categories of use, grades of durability and security based on performance tests and design requirements.
This document includes assessment of additional features when they are included in the design.
This document does not cover any other elements than those directly involved in the control of a motor driven cylinder.
The suitability of motor driven cylinders for use on fire or smoke-door assemblies is determined by fire performance tests conducted in addition to the performance testing specified by this document; see Annex A.
