NosaukumsThis standard specifies requirements for uncontrolled door closing devices, such devices being intended for fitting either singly, in multiples, or as a system, for example in combination with hinges or other functional devices. The scope is limited to manually operated uncontrolled door closing devices for single action swing doors, where the energy for closing is generated by the user upon opening the door, such that when the door is released, it returns to a closed position in an uncontrolled manner. The performance requirements in this standard introduce the concept of "Dynamic Force" in conjunction with a lower closing moment to ensure that the door closes and if applicable latches securely and reliably. Double action spring closers are expressly excluded from the scope of this standard. This standard also covers uncontrolled door closing devices containing simple damping mechanisms: in the context of this standard such devices are also considered to be "uncontrolled". NOTE 1 Controlled door closing devices are covered by EN 1154.This standard also covers uncontrolled door closing devices incorporated in single axis hinges where, in addition to providing a closing function the devices may also support the door leaf. Such spring hinges may be either load bearing or non-load bearing.Uncontrolled door closing devices manufactured in accordance with this standard are recommended for use only on doors up to 1000 mm in width and 80 kg in mass and where users are expected to take care during operation. NOTE 2 Annex B gives information on the selection of uncontrolled door closing devices for specific applications.Uncontrolled door closing devices for use on fire doors need additional attributes in order to contribute actively to meeting the essential safety requirements in case of fire, either independently or as part of a complete door assembly. These additional requirements are specified in normative annex A.
