This document applies to temperature controls
- for use in, on, or in association with equipment for household appliance and similar use, including equipment for heating, air-conditioning and similar applications. The equipment may use electricity, gas, oil, solid fuel, solar thermal energy, etc., or a combination thereof;
- for equipment that is used by the public, such as equipment intended to be used in shops, offices, hospitals, farms and commercial and industrial applications
This document specifies operating values, operating times, and operational sequences associated with the safety of these applications.
This document also applies to controls using NTCs or PTCs thermistors, additional requirements for which are contained in Annex J of EN IEC 60730-2-9:20XX.
This document applies to controls with a rated voltage not exceeding 690 V AC or 600 V DC where the DC source is provided by primary or secondary batteries, and with a rated current not exceeding 63 A.
This document also applies to manually operated controls if, electrically and/or mechanically, they form an integral part of automatic controls.
NOTE Requirements for manually operated switches not forming part of an automatic control are contained in EN 61058-1.
This document does not take into account the response value of an automatic action of the control, if such a response value is dependent upon the method of mounting the control in the appliance or equipment, in which case the control should be tested together with the appliance or equipment. Where a response value is of significance for the protection of the user or surroundings, the value defined in the appropriate household equipment standard or as determined by the manufacturer applies.
This document applies also to controls incorporating electronic devices, requirements for which are contained in Annex DX.
This document does not apply to single operation devices (SOD) as defined in 3.2.101 of EN IEC 60730-2-9:20XX and temperature controls constructed according to 9.4.13.102 b) or c) or 9.4.103 of EN IEC 60730-2-9:20XX.
