This document specifies the safety requirements for elevating control stations on cranes.
Elevating control stations are intended to raise and, if necessary, tilt the control station for operating a crane in order to improve the crane operator's view on the work area.
Thereby, this document specifies requirements for the driving mechanism, the supporting and suspension system and safety devices for elevating control stations on cranes.
NOTE 1 This document references to EN 13557 for general requirements for control stations on cranes.
This document is applicable to elevating control stations on cranes to be operated outdoors at ambient temperature between –20 °C and +40 °C.
The spatial boundaries include access to the control station, the travel path and the area of the drive mechanism, as well as the emergency exit.
This document does not apply to elevating control stations with the option for transportation of loads.
This European Standard does not apply to lifts for cranes for the transport of persons and goods.
NOTE 2 Requirements for lifts for cranes are specified in EN 81-43.
The significant hazards covered by this document are identified in Annex A.
This document is not applicable to elevating control stations which are manufactured before the date of publication by CEN.
