1.1 This document applies for machinery and plants for the preparation of concrete and mortar as defined
in 3.1. This document specifies the common requirements for the design of machinery and plants for the preparation
of concrete and mortar. This document specifies the requirements for the design of installations for batching production of concrete
and mortar with or without mixers.
It does not include requirements relevant to
mixing plants for continuous production,
truck mixers (prEN 12609),
mixers with tilting drum and with manual feeding (see B.1),
self-propelled machines,
conveying, spraying and placing machines for concrete and mortar (EN 12001 and e.g. B.17),
small mobile tipping drum mixers (EN XXXX).
The machinery may be stationary or it may be capable of being transported to an alternative position regularly.
1.2 This document deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to machinery and plant for the preparation of concrete and mortar, when they are used as intended and under the conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (see Clause 4). This document specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards.
This standard does not deal with:
explosive atmospheres,
noise during maintenance.
1.3 This document is applicable to machinery and plants which are manufactured after the date of
publication of this document by CEN.
