This European Standard specifies performance requirements for thermoplastics and GRP manholes and inspection chambers intended to be used for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage applications and gives associated test methods for verification and evaluation of conformity with this European Standard. Kits of components for thermoplastics manholes and inspection chambers, placed on the market comprise of base units, risers and near surface components, including seals as required. The components assembled into these products are intended for use in carriageways, parking areas, hard shoulders and within buildings.
This European Standard includes separate tests for the near surface components, the riser shaft and the base unit, including the requirements for seals all of which can be supplied either factory assembled or as a kit for site assembly. It includes suggested classification levels but allows the manufacturer to declare his individual test results.
Products conforming to this European Standard can be used internally within a building or externally and can also be used in renovation and replacement.
This European Standard does not specify either performance or testing requirements for catch pots and gullies, for covers and frames or for ladders. Covers and frames are specified in EN 124:1994 [1], ladders are specified in EN 14396:2002 [2].
