This European Standard specifies the requirements and test methods in respect to materials, dimensions, function and Factory Production Control with which flexible hoses shall comply. The standard is applicable to flexible hoses intended to be used in potable water systems to connect sanitary and other appliances. Flexible hoses are designed for use with water with a maximum static pressure of 10 bar and a temperature of maximum 90 °C.
Depending on the maximum permissible water temperature, the following types are distinguished :
¾ Type 90 : suitable for water with temperatures up to 90 °C ;
¾ Type 25 : suitable for water with temperatures up to 25 °C.
NOTE Products in conformity with this standard will be suitable for drinking water applications subject to :
¾ compliance in the country concerned, with any national regulations requiring testing to ensure that the product will not adversely effect the quality of the water,
¾ compliance in due course with the proposed European Acceptance Scheme (EAS) that will introduce common EU requirements for testing for fitness for contact with drinking water. When the EAS is to be implemented, this Standard shall have added to it a special Annex (Z/EAS) to incorporate the provisions of EC Mandate M 136.
