This Technical Specification/European Standard is applicable to the investigation and assessment of drain and sewer systems outside buildings. It gives guidance on the inspection techniques to determine, but not limited to, the structural and/or operational condition of drains and sewers with or without the need for precleaning. The inspection techniques covered in this document can be carried out solely from within manholes, within pipelines or a combination of both parts of drain and sewer systems.
It is applicable to drain and sewer systems, which operate essentially under gravity, from the point where the wastewater leaves a building or roof drainage system, or enters a road gully, to the point where it is discharged into a treatment works or receiving water body. Drains and sewers below buildings are included provided that they do not form part of the drainage system of the building. Some inspection techniques can be applied to pressure drain and sewer systems.
