Highly sensitive and accurate determination of the estrogenic potential of aqueous samples for any salt content up to 3,5 %.
The test method is applicable for the analysis of both influent and effluent waste water, for urban, industrial and hospital waste water. The method can be used for both filtered and unfiltered waste water without any sample pretreatment.
It is applicable for any salt content up to 3,5 %. It can be used when it cannot be excluded that within the test series, survey or monitoring program the salt content of single samples may be above 0,5 %.
The test method provides both estrogen equivalent concentrations and DIL values, i.e. the dilution level from which on no more estrogen effect can be detected.
Without any extraction or enrichment of the water samples the detection of 1 ‐ 2 ng/l 17‐beta‐estradiol equivalents is possible, for fresh water, waste water and salt water.
