This document specifies the requirements for validation of the structural design of rail vehicle bodies and body-mounted equipment, including interfaces to couplers and running gear.
This document is applicable to all kinds of rail vehicles designed to operate on conventional rail systems.
NOTE 1 Structural requirements for couplers and running gear are excluded from this document as they are given in referenced documents.
NOTE 2 The definition of rail vehicle follows the one given in EN 17343. Machines (e. g., on track machines, infrastructure inspection machines, road-rail machines) are not regarded as rail vehicles even if some of the requirements can be referred to by other application standards.
