This European Standard describes the management and security requirements of a process for the secure physical destruction of sensitive material which is no longer required.
The standard provides structure for determining the level of protection required in relation to risk.
a) Identification and categorisation of sensitive items, at the point where they are no longer required
b) Material classification (paper, media or other items defined as sensitive material)
c) Level of security which will determine procedural and technical requirement
This standard provides process which will maintain confidentiality of the stored sensitive information through the handling, transport and secure destruction process.
This Code of Practice will be implemented by an organisation engaged in secure destruction and will apply to that organisations premises, holding sites, transportation and secure destruction procedures.
