NosaukumsThis document gives general guidance for automatic online monitoring of organic ozone precursor vapours (VOCs) in ambient air by in-situ thermal desorption and capillary gas chromatography. This document is valid for the measurement of organic ozone precursor vapours ranging in volatility from C2 to n-C9 hydrocarbons in a concentration range of approximately 0,5 μg/m3 to 50 μg/m3. Air samples are typically collected for 15 min to 30 min of each hour on a continuous basis. The typical sampling volume ranges from 250 ml to 1000 ml. This allows diurnal changes in ozone precursor concentrations to be monitored at that location in near-real time enabling short-term public health-protection measures to be implemented, if required, for example, in response to high pollution levels. The changing concentrations can also be correlated with relevant factors such as traffic density, weather conditions and industrial pollution events.
