This European standard specifies requirements relating to the safety, performance, instructions and marking together with associated test methods of residential solid fuel fired appliances with firedoors and which are designed for operating under room sealed conditions.
This standard specifies the additional requirements for their room sealed operation and is to be used in conjunction with the standards detailed below, which specify the requirements relating to the design, manufacture, construction, safety and performance, instructions and marking together with associated test methods for each type of appliance.

To be classified as room sealed, appliances shall meet the additional requirements of this standard.
This standard is only applicable to room sealed appliances in which the instructions clearly state that it shall not be installed into a chimney serving any other appliance.
Appliances which receive the combustion air from outside by means of a pipe system which is not air tight are not considered room sealed and are not covered by this standard.
This standard does not cover appliances to be operated with ventilating systems which have pressure below (-15 Pa) in the room of installation of the appliance in relation to the outside atmosphere.
