NosaukumsThe RHM operators are missing information about the mail pieces until they are delivered to the RHM operator. This means that they cannot plan ahead or balance the workload until the mail pieces have arrived and have been estimated. The traditional hybrid mail process affects the whole mail piece lifecycle from data are available and until the letter is delivered to the recipient. In contrast, the reverse hybrid mail process is not affected by the mail piece lifecycle itself, but initiated only after the mail piece has arrived to the RHM operator. The mail piece is a black box until the envelope is weighted (optionally scanned) and opened. Currently it is not possible to retrieve information in a standardized way from the postal network, such as mail piece location, size, weight or any other properties already available to the postal operator. The scanned image of the envelope (often produced as part of the sorting process) and the data printed on the postal barcode are also not available. Some of the largest PO boxes or delivery addresses (for current scan service providers) do have specific Postal codes (used for routing), which may be used here. CEN/TC331/WG2/PTK has identified the possibility to standardize the interface between the RHM operator and the postal logistic network. Based on our findings, a postal interface could include some or all of the following data about a mail piece: - Delivery class used (1st class, 2nd class...) - Type of the delivery used (standard, registered, other communication channels…) - Weight/size of the mail piece - Date of submission - Type/size of the mail piece - Barcode/ID values inside the envelope window / address area / elsewhere (e.g. for returned mail handling) - Image of the mail piece e.g. from sorting machines Based on this the work item will give the following deliverables: Draft standard for a Postal Network Interface suitable for multiple delivery points and for working in a multi-postal operator and partial postal pipeline services environment.
