NosaukumsTrack and trace is more and more commonly offered by postal operators, for parcels and for letters. Some postal operators offer standard T and T letter service at a much lower price than the registered letters which include specific guaranties. First, most of the existing systems cover only from postal deposit to delivery. Second, more and more mail will travel under the responsibility of two or more operators (cross border), when the different T and T system cannot exchange all the information that could be useful for the mailer or the receiver. For any mailer, the events which can be of interest to be recorded are not necessarily the same as those which are to be traced by the postal operator. Moreover the existing Track & Trace systems which are currently being in use are not interactive in the way that if some problem occurs during the processing operation there is no way for the mailer to be involved in the choice of what is to be done for minimizing the impact on the item delivery. The first task is to prepare a list with all the events within the processing chain which maybe of interest for the mailer (or the recipient) to be recorded for tracking purposes. The second part of the work will be to the description of what is to be included in any customer oriented Track & Trace system used by Postal Operators in Europe. This document will only provide guidelines.
